Yup, welcome to the addiction lol! I did the transparent rose today. I will take pictures the next time I take pictures for my shop, its a major hassle getting out the light tent etc, and I only do it if I have plenty of stuff to photograph. I did get to play to today and will be torching tomorrow also, so some time next week, I will have those done and posted.

I love the rose! It has to be my favorite color of all of them!

The rose is one of my favorite colors also but it has massive cracking problems when paired with just about anything else. Does NOT like to be put over anything else. Which drives me a wee bit nuts because using it to encase white is an absolutely lovely shade of pink.

Are you trying it on Lipstick and the SOP Whites as well? It would be good to see if the SOP's are more compatible. Devardi produces Bi-Color rods with transparent outsides over white cores. It would be good to know what white they use, and to experiment and work with the encasing transparents that the Factory is using on these Bi-color rods as a starting place for encasing... they are sold out right now, but are at the bottom of this page.

Try the rose over Moretti white. I have had it work that way. Over nothing else though-not even Devardi white. Also tried Vetro with no luck. They are beautiful. I have not done anything with them. Laying on the mantel is where they are covered in dust.

I have done them over Moretti white with no luck. Also, I bought the opaque white because I was having so much trouble with encasing the sop white with the transparents. I took the rose ones out of the kiln this morning, and off the mandrel. So far, so good, but I have had them crack up to two weeks later so I am going to watch them for a couple of weeks before I pass final judgement. At some point, I may test the transparents with other brands and the sop white, but for now, I will keep in the course I have started and work my way through this way. Then I can start a new round. I think it will be easier this way, so I don't get any of the whites etc. mixed up once they are in the kiln.

I had to divide mine up. That is how the successful ones ended up on the mantel!

I wanted to post my Spring Birdies for some comic relief... they're all made with Devardi except the Pea Green base and it's purple flower.

aw cute birds and stand and darling near sighted chipmunk. That med. brown is one of my very favorites as well.

Is anyone telling Natasha when the compatibility is a problem? I think if she knows, then it can possibly be remedied.

Keep those photos coming!

Paula, those eye-glasses are amazing. I am always amazed at Cynthia's eye-glasses on her fish too!

I sure am looking forward to the coming shipment of colors at the end of the Month. Marcy, it might be good to identify the colors that do encase well, and the ones that don't encase or play nice as we go. Then we could send her a list to consider and try herself.

Sonja is working with encasing the White, so I just encased SOP White with the Transparent Dk Rose with the Stringer wrapping method, and it went nicely. The SOP White and Misty are my favorite Whites on the Hothead Torch since they go opaque. They are softer to work with too.

We'll see how this encasing holds up. You can see a pic below of the encased and solid Transparent Dk. Rose beads.

Okay I have cleaned the six sets that I made over the last several days. (sorry, no pics yet). I have to say I am disappointed, three of the six have incompatibility cracks. The transaparent rose, the dark violet and the golden smoke. All three are cracked over the white with no transparent core so far, and the dark violet is also cracked over the transparent core, white, then transparent. These all went into the kiln still glowing. The other three, the ice blue, the transparent yellow and the seaweed green seem to be okay for now.

So sorry Sonja. Please list the ones that were successful with their ID numbers, so we can keep the information, okay? The SOP White encased with Dk Transparent Rose did well on my end, but we will give it time.

Well this concerns me. I placed an order on March 7 and haven't heard from them since. (Which is very unusual from my past experiences) I fear that a new incoming shipment will push back my order even further.

It said on the web site that they were behind because of the amount of orders. There is a delay of 12 days.

Hi Everyone.. Haven't posted in a long time...
Natasha and Dan have just moved to a new home in OR., so things could be a bit back loged for them.. But I'm sure that as soon as they are settled in things will get back to normal.. We all just need to have a bit of understanding right now.. I know that I would not have posted any new glass until I was all settled into my new home.. But Natasha is too kind to all of us to make us wait any longer than we have to..
With that said I would like to say WONDERFUL beads everyone.. And thank you for all the testing of colors... Always so helpful, keep up the good work...
I also can't wait for the new glass shipment, should be some wonderful new colors in this one.. I would be happy to see some of the older colors again too..
Happy torching everyone.. I'm still in the cold.. So will be a bit longer before I can get back on the torch..

I emailed Natasha several days after my last order to add something to it. She immediately responded and invoiced me for the addition. That is great customer service! Love their glass too! I would hate to be running a expanding business and try to move into a new home. I would be pulling out my hair!

I am just a tiny bit sad. I tried making murrine mixing some of the transparent med. purple with Effetre opalino (I know, a no-no) and adding additional layers. Needless to say, my murrine cracked quite a bit. So just a small reminder- don't fall in love with what you think the final product will be, until after you get the results. But I still think experimenting is great.

Default SOP Green Misty

Oh Marcy, that is sad, but I have read that Opalino is fussy in some situations anyway. I trust we will keep testing what combinations play nice together, and what can be used for what (like encasing and murrini) and save people some work in the future.

I sure can't imagine moving your home and business AND coping with being slammed with orders! Gosh, what a recipe for a breakdown! Wish we could all take a trip and pitch in and help them. I played with the SOP Green Misty and a WigWag of effetre colors last week and made a Tote Dangle. The SOP Green Misty is a really nice glass to work. On the Hothead it turns this soft opaque Mint Green.

I can't wait for the next shipment to arrive too... but thanks to the cautions here I will expect to be patient - not my strong suit!
