Default Silver wire gauge

When I ordered my fine silver wire, I got a 26 gauge. Now I'm wondering, is that the best gauge to work with or is a heavier wire better. I managed to actually make about ten beads with wire so far--and am now almost out of wire. Does the heavier wire hold up to heat better, or show up on the bead better?

I use a much smaller gauge on my beads. 28 or 30 I think

The skinnnier the wire, the better the design. Thicker wire tends to ball up.

Ah, so if I want the wire to ball up, then I use a lower gauge and if I want a design in wire to look like wire, I use the higher gauge.

Yes but it's not 100% predictable.

I use the 28 and 30 gauge to make silver ball trails of glass around and across my beads.

Is 28 gauge about 0,8mm?
