Default Color Chart Question (Newbie)

OK...I bought a bunch of unlabeled glass off Ebay. Some of the glass is not the same color after it's melted. Is there a color chart somewhere so I can find the color rod I have and then see what color it will be when I use it? Also, this would help me learn the names of the colors.

Thanks
Chris

Do you know what COE it is? If it is 104 do you know what manufacturer it is? There are literally hundreds and hundreds of colours, and each maker has their own colour charts.

I know nothing. LOL Just bought it by the pound off Ebay assuming it's 104. Showed someone who got me into bead making one piece of pink and he told me I had a rod of Rubino.

Maybe there's someone living in your area who could help figure it out?

Here is the copy and paste of some of my bookmarks. I hope they are useful. I did not check to see if they were all still active so I am sorry if they are not. I suggest The arrow springs chart, Kay's website (the first link), and Frantz color pallet. Although frantz chart is great it can be hard to tell the difference between some of the transparents and pastels the way the pics are cropped and lighted... and I have noticed that a bunch of colors have been removed since its creation (yes others have been added.. but what a great resource to have all those colors that are not there as well!)
One chart will lead you to another I am sure... and maybe you will have the answers! I have other manufactured color charts as well bookmarked. Maybe I should just publish a list of links in my bookmark folders! At least I would know I could always find them if my PC crashes

My advice -stop buying on Ebay Chris until you Are familiar with the glasses. It's hard enough in the beginning remembering and sorting your known glass; buying a hodgepodge mix is only going to add to your frustration, especially if there's a mixed COE rod or two in there. A color chart's, while very helpful and useful won't solve all your problems. For instance a clear rod could be just that, or, it could be transparent yellow. A rod of Aurae could easily be mistaken for a medium amethyst, and what a waste that would be...

Thanks George. LOL And you are right! When I saw the Aurae, I thought...wow...I might have some of this but when I tried it...nope it was just ameythyst. I just figured the bunch I bought would be something to learn making round beads with.

have you identified any of it?

I think you are working on a HH right? You will know if it's bullseye's immediately! It's supper hard. Bets are that most of it is probably a moretti mix. Especially if it was a newbie. Can you contact the buyer I imagine and see. Buying misc. glass cheep is not a bad thing at all. You can get some really neat colors, and experiment with neat colors you may not have bought originally. I hope you have fun playing with it.
(I probably would have done the same! I love a mystery pack!) I have found that a lot of the 96 colors are a very different saturation/color than the 104 line. With the exception of clear, and a few others, It should not be too hard to tell. With a little work, I am sure you can identify a pound or 3 of glass!!!

It could also be Kinary, satake, or Divardi glass. If it is ridiculously shocky, Its probably Divardi, although a few of the Kinary rods have this shocky issue as well. I still say... have fun with it!!!!

May I ask what it cost per the lb. (not what you paid in full..) It could help determine the glass. Some is more expensive than others.
I bought my Kinary glass for about $5 a lb. Mixed colors. I find that the 96 line is a little bit more pricey than moretti, and Divardi you can get for about $5lb also. My Moretti assorted by the pound was about $10-15 a LB back in the day $8-10.

I am still up for asking the seller... or if possible re-visiting the posting of sale to read the fine details...
