Thanks, Judith, that's so sweet! Can't wait to see what comes out of the kiln from yesterday -- I've got the caps all ready to go already, haha! Too much fun!

Where's AMBER??????? (see my post below)

Amber thanks so much for this tut....I have just started working with silver glass and these beads are my first result at working with Ekho. I was really pleased with the color I got. The pictures aren't the greatest and the beads have brighter colors but my poor camera is what it is. I melted mine in, like Tammy did and I didn't reduce it on purpose but It may have happened anyway.....duh.... Like I said, total newbie to all of this. I also tried making large and small dots, instead of wraps, and that gives kind of a neat effect too. Beautiful beads everyone, you guys are all an inspiration to me ! Holly

Thanks again for your generosity Amber

Thanks Amber...looking at everyone elses beads I think I would've gotten better results if I hadn't been so "stingy" with the Ekho. I was expecting to fall flat on my face....so didn't want to waste the glass....lol...What a fun thing you have started here !! Bless your heart!

where have I been...I kept seeing fire opals pop up by different people looking very cool but quite different to eachother...started thinking...someone must have shared a secret....

today I've had time to do a search and have a read...and a look on the gallery thread.

yay Amber!beautiful beads and so wonderful of you to share!

I think I'll be trying this with clio, since it hates me in most other applications. ekho I like and it likes me back so I'll leave that where it is unless clio continues to not speak to me.

Ok - I'm struggling with the code to enter on here (I'm using flickr so any tips appreciated)

This is clio on black, the base was a little larger, so I went with it and made it bigger!

Default ekho

found this on double helix, does this method work for you all?

For best results, Work Hot, Cool, Reduce, and Encase. Melting the clear encasement using a cool flame will encourage a "mother of pearl" luster, while reheating the encased Ekho will further develop the struck tones.
this is how I work clio, and it seems to work...going down to try your tut now....

Amber, what a generous and gorgeous tutorial to share with us all - these are really lovely beads, and inspire me to go paw through my glass to see if I have any Ekho or Clio...

Thank you!

Thank you so much Amber for sharing this awesome tutorial!!! You are very generous.

I made several beads that didn't come out quite right (my fault entirely) and finally came up with something to share. I have never used Ekho so it was fun to play around with it. I used transparent blue cobalt as the base.

Ms. Amber--you are a Goddess!!!!!

I had to post to tell you how wonderful these fire opals are!!!! I tried your recipe last night and it actually worked on my HH. I have trouble duplicating some techniques--my "storming" doesn't turn out like the oxy torches.

I love real opals, I love your fire opals, and I think I might love you! K
