Default Ventilation.. another thread..

Considering my options for setting ventilation up in the new house - had anticipated buying hoods and blowers seperately, but saw this on ebay.. Would it work? Thoughts? Ideas? I'm going for EASY.... (So that it gets done..)

One would have to know how much duct, size and number of turns to assist in calculating the necessary CFM. Also what is the CFM at specific SP's for this fan?

It will also be necessary to determine if you desire to use this in combination with a Barley box and that overall size opening.

See other threads in 'safety' as to some guidance on proper ventilation setups.

It's listed as a max at 900cfm.

For what torch? Something small, cricket/minor
With 1 bend and directly out the wall, more than likely yes with baffle removed

So, if I'm running a Barracuda, I should be looking for something in the 1600cfm range?

It all depends on the amount of space you are venting. Check Dale's information, that'll help!

Ventilation is based on hood or fume cabinet opening, NOT on how big torch is or how big room is...... There is tons of information out there, you have to be willing to find it....

Quickly the fan size is calculated by the formula;

Hood size opening in square feet times a factor/constant of 100 or 125

Use a lower constant if you have a Bailey box type setup and a higher constant if the hood is simple open plenum type.

example; hood 2' x 3' = 6 sqr ft times factor of 100 = 600 CFM fan size minimum. You should also consider how many bends are in the ducting, how long the ducting is, and what size the ducting is. Dale has a nice calculator program at the artglassanswers site.
