......what batik means, what does it look like, and how do you accomplish it with glass?

Well, it's a process of dying material in patterns. You applywax to the material, in a pattern, picture or design, then you dye the material. You can then remove some wax and add more in other areas and dye again. It's really very beautiful...

there are however various forms but the two largest schools are African batik and Indonesian Batik... They are quite different... I don't have any pics of either but if you google it, you should be able to find samples of both.

Now how you would do it in glass???? I'm too much of a newbie to have any suggestions....

I think that people use words like "batik," "tie-dye," and "shibori" (all textile coloring techniques) to describe what a certain bead or decorating technique reminds them of. It's not a specific process, like fuming, sandblasting or electroforming.
