Umm isn't that what the class is for? I'm not being a smart a** but that's why I took my first class.

Unless it's a class that expects some additional knowledge before hand?

I know I did that with the Bead&Button show this year, I passed on the 3 day beginners workshop because I'm starting beginner classes this month. But I do have a couple advanced beginner classes scheduled that technically I'm not ready for at this very moment. By definition the advanced beginners require you to have a lampwork class previously and some small amount of time at the torch. The workshop assumed you didn't have prior work or knowledge. I thought about it long and hard but felt six months was enough time to get from point A to point B and so that's what I did.

I don't think I'd wait until the last minute to wing a tutorial though?

Just go to your brower or google or whatever you do and put in a search for "making lampwork beads." Here is just one that I found... have not watched it so not sure if it's what you're looking for but there are a bunch on the internet.

Enjoy your class.

Might be harder to unlearn something than take the class and learn the right way.

What's wrong with looking for info beforehand?

Before I did a beginners lampworking course, I did a fusing course which absolutely sucked (teacher did not have a good understanding of his subject and did not know how to explain what we were trying to achieve).

Being before the days of Youtube, I read up everything I possibly could before the course started so I would be able to make the most of my time in the course. That investment of time was well worthwhile.

As it turned out, the lampworking teacher was absolutely brilliant. But the prior research was still worth the effort.
