Default 104 Yellow over black

I'm trying create a bead patterned off the swallowtail caterpillar (light green, black stripes, yellow dots). I think I'm close to having enough skill, but I can't get a yellow to be solidly opaque (see pic). Tried encasing the black with clear. Tried putting white under the yellow. Still looks translucent. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm using all moretti/effetre.

Thanks,
Wayne

I don't see a picture of what you are trying to accomplish. There is an Effetere that is yellow over black in one rod.

Acid yellow stays opaque.

hmm. not sure what happened there. so Kathy, I need to make another glass order? Seems to imply it needs to be 2 mm thick, though.

Try acid yellow instead of white and layer with your yellow you're using currently.

I'm not sure what shade of yellow you're trying to achieve, but this is two different yellows directly over black. I was making bees for BOC, and one looks green but the other stayed pretty true to the rod color. The one on the right that stayed yellow is from Lauscha. I can go look for the name if you need it.

SGA/Eileen, thanks for the replies. I'm trying to mimic the colors below (pic from wikipedia). The Lauscha but a little rich. Love the bees though

I wonder if making the base the pale green then adding the black & yellow to it would get you there easier.

Not putting yellow over black I mean. Maybe green with yellow stripes & black dots or something? Or maybe making a twistie with a white core, yellow & black stripes over the white, then using that over green?

I agree about having adjacent black/yellow dots. It's gonna require a little more... finesse than I currently have I might be able to handle a black and yellow twistie with a little raking.

Thanks so much for the suggestions, Eileen!

Effetre 416 Yellow is dense and about the right shade. It stays put with black too.

So I had today off, drove up to Wale in Hellertown to get Acid Yellow. They are really nice folk. Bought a lot more glass than I planned

Thank you SGA and Eileen. It's a lot better. The pic won't do justice. I think with a little practice any maybe marvering the dots to get a more cylinder shape, it will be perfect.
