My New Garage Space
I have expanded my corner with a new larger storage rack and fence railing instead of PVC pipe.
And my cool little Habor Freight Tools cart...$35 with a coupon, and it holds everything that I want close but not right on my table.

Looks great - anything you might need on the handy rolling cart that is near but not in your face so that stuff isn't taking up prime table space. . . and glad to see that the great selection of glass is on a metal shelf (sometimes when I see wood, I worry about all the weight of the glass). Lucky you!

Hi,
Did you make your own ventilation system? And did you have to winterize your space or are you in warm climate?
I am starting to set up in my garage and need to do everything! I live around Buffalo NY- God help me!
Your glass storage rack looks really cool, too!

Really nice and well organized. Thanks for the pictures. I hope your muse flourishes.
I know there have been several threads- and to ask - where did you purchase your fence rail for glass storage? I'm having difficulty locating. Did you have to cut it down yourself?
thanks ahead for your response.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments on my new space. Here are the answers to the questions folks had.
My DH did the ventilation system for me, but it wasn't very hard or expensive. He got a kitchen vent hood from Home Depot for about $75 and some dryer duct vent pipe (the silvery stuff) that he attached to the hood. At the other end, he cut a board to fit into the window with a hole in it to fit the vent duct. It's a little loud on high where I keep it if the garage door is closed, but not unreasonable...about like an oxygen concentrator.
We live in NC so it doesn't usually get super cold or if it does, it doesn't last. Still, I like to be warm, so I have a space heater that I got at Lowe's for $25, and there aren't many winter days when it's too cold to torch. I also have a mat on the floor to stand on which helps. The summer can get super hot, but I wait for the sun to go down most days. I also have a standing air
conditioner that I use sometimes.
Th fence post came from Lowe's and was about $10 for eight feet. DH cut most of it, but it was pretty easy to do with his compound miter saw. I think you could also use a hack saw, but you'd be there awhile -- a table saw or band saw would also work.
Oh, and I got a really good deal on the stainless steel table from Costco. Happy to answer any other questions, 'cause I'm quite excited by my new space, especially my little red wagon.

Lots of room, looks great. Hoping you have plans to move the propane tank outside soon?

The propane tank only comes in when I torch, otherwise it lives just outside the garage in its little housing so no chance of leaks inside. I have a fire extinguisher right next to me, and every time I change tanks, DH checks for leaks everywhere.

Hey Libby, The cart is my favorite thing. If you want I will send you a 25% off coupon that I got from Harbor Freight, but it's only good tomorrow -- 24 April.

Thanks for the link! I might try and get over there tomorrow.

Very nice! I like your rolling cart.
BTW..You don't need a big torch to melt boro. The GTT Scorpion melts boro very nicely using concentrators. I even make my drop pendants with this setup not just little beads.

You should try boro! I work with boro (and soft glass) on my minor no problem.

Your studio looks great. I have the same little red wagon. I have mine tucked away behind our island in the kitchen. You can't see it unless you're practically on top of it, and it holds all of my jewelry making supplies. I used to use a cupboard, but I was not putting the stuff away, so it would sit all over the kitchen table. This cart is like a rolling table with shelves. I love it! And, wow, you have a lot of mandrels ready to go! Good job!
