question on circut boards for gold
Hi all
I have a question My dh came across a box of old circut boards and some fuse type looking things that we are thing go to the board.
Does anyone know if this might be gold? They look gold and dh thought perhaps they had been made with gold years ago. Any idea how to check to be sure?
something I can do at home would be best. .........like fume with them LOL
I can take a pic and post if that would help..... I'll go do that now

Yes. Its gold but it is a VERY thin plating. In my opinion it is not worth the effort to reclaim it in small batches like this.

He pretty much verifies that it is gold, maybe other video links on the side can show you how to remove it. Good Luck!

Gold this thickness is measured in microns, about 2 or 3. Gold is used in electroncis because it is an excellent conductor and it is corrosion resistant.

There are firms that process pc boards to reclaim gold. Considering the chemicals used it is not a task that should be done in the home garage!
Gold is about 1.5 times less conductive than silver and works well as stated above for corrosion issues.
