A tip for boro workers...
Just a little PSA for the boro community, always remember not to put your mouth on the hot end of the tube. It's not much fun

Yep. Hot glass looks like cool glass. Always set the rod/tube down the right way. I've learned that the hard way too!!!

Started heating the open end of the tube to wind color onto it when I realized that the other end of the tube was closed, so naturally I heated the closed end and attempted to blow a hole...

Tom, that's funny!
Sorry about your lips...that's gotta hurt!
Only time I did that wasn't with tubing...was blowing on a bead, and someone startled me..yep, kissed the bead!
But my reflexes are pretty good thank goodness, just one tiny tiny blister.
Heal fast!

Reminds me of my recent facebook post:
"hmm. Note to self, after joining 22mm marble stock to 12mm handle, put it out of reach until the weld is cool."

I know how you feel Chris, I've done that several times myself, haha, you'd think that I would learn.. Also, if you drop a rod you just pulled out of the flame, don't try to catch it.

DON'T walk around in the studio in bare feet. I just had the DW pull an almost microscopic piece of glass from my heel. Probably shouldn't torch in shorts either...

I've only done the barefoot thing once, and only after I spent 20 minutes meticulously sweeping. Mind you my shop is a 10x12 foot shed and there's only maybe a quarter of that that's walkable space.

Done the join two pieces and start working on a piece ~ pick up newly joined rod and slide down between thumb and first finger...... Stinky.... white divits in both fingers for weeks.... knock on wood, have not done that again...

My best tip to all. Never put the hot end of a blow tube in water when you have you hand over the other end.
Steam really burns!!!!

I hate the smell of my own flesh burning. Absolutely no resemblance to a ribeye, more like an old boot.
