Default Glasses or Goggles

I can't decide if goggles or normal glasses would be better. The goggles seem like they may be better for staying on your face and that's why I'm thinking about going with those, can anyone give some input on that? My other question is if I buy a pair of shade 3 glasses will I need a pair of shade 5 glasses to work on larger objects like sculptures to be safe? I appreciate any input I can get!

If it helps the goggles I was looking at are called RK2 Glassworking Safety Goggles - Green ACE IR 3.0, #GB-G3-RK2 and the glasses are called Model 808 Plastic Glassworking Safety Glasses - Green ACE IR 3.0, #GB-G3-808. Both are found on the Phillips website

I am guessing you are working Boro?

Sweat is an issue for me so goggles would become uncomfortable very quickly.

I see a lot of the masters using split lens.

I work soft glass myself and have recently gotten addicted to Didymium on a bench shield and I have to tell you it is a whole other way of working glass with a torch.

If you don't wear prescription glasses, glasses would be more comfortable than goggles, in my opinion.

Sometimes, do you ever lift up your lenses (I use the Ace 202 flip-ups. Soft glass and I wear prescription specs) to look at your work without the "sun-glasses"?
This makes regular eyeglass styles easier than goggles as well.

That's definitely one of the best lens choices because it's purpose-designed for boro. The brightness gives you the eyestrain but it's the UV's that will give you cataracts.
