Default Dear Tutorial Writers

Dear Tutorial Writers,

Thank you so much for sharing your knowlege. It is greatly appreciated. If I could wish for one more thing I would love to have a paragraph or 2 about how you came up with the design or maybe even some pictures of early beads. I am just so curious about everyones artistic process. Perhaps it is just me who is interested in this info. I feel like the tutorials I have are worth every penny, this is not intended in any way to be a criticism but rather a random comment about information I would find interesting.

I am not interested in that kind of info. Just interested in how I make the bead.
When it costs the writers more time to add the info you're asking for, I can imagine the tutorial will cost more.

Hi Caroline, That is a very valid request and sometimes there are some really cute stories that go with creativity.

A paragraph added on the intro page shouldn't be time consuming or costly or add to the cost of the tut. It is just a matter of decision on sharing that info, or not.

Most tutorial writers put some sort of introductory page in their tutorials. This request makes sense to me. It's always nice to read a blurb about the tute writer...

Yea, to some people the info might not be interesting but I love to hear about everyones creative process. Again it was not meant as a criticism at all.

I wouldn't charge more for a few lines of banter, background and early pictures. A lot of the times though...how I came up with the design would include this sentence: I was trying to do something else, screwed it up and got this instead. TaDa! LOL

It sounds like fun to me and a bit of information that would make the tutorial more personal. I would love to hear more and a few lines would be great. Thanks for the idea.

I love when an author explains their inspiration or how a design developed. What's nice, if you don't want to read that info, you can skip it...and it really shouldn't take enough time that it would increase a tutorial price.

I've always liked back stories and prequels though. And learning more about how different artists minds work. I'm a curious cat though.

I put a LOT of pictures in my tutorials, and I am squeaking for space and the tut to still be able to be emailed in one email.

Ah I never thought about the size of the tut and the ability to email it easily, good point!

I work off of the wrong side of the brain for lampworking. I love everything about it, but I don't kid myself in thinking that I am 'creative'. I struggle everyday I can torch to come up with some kind of inspiration on what to do. And when I see something that sparks some creative juices, I swear I see someone the very next day doing that exact thing. Then I think I am copying and the idea is no longer mine.

I would love to know where a lot of your ideas come from when you do your tuts. They are wonderful and well written and I have purchased quite a few. I would just love to know the backstory.

And Moth, Cynthia and Lorraine, I would love to see your screw ups .
