Question Help!! My kiln won't stop unless I unplug it!

Last night my kiln started beeping the time ran out, BUT when I pushed the button and it said "Idle" the temp kept going up. I turned off the kiln using the toggle switch and the temp cont' to rise and wouldn't turn off. I was able to rescue 1 piece before I unplugged it at 1250". When I plugged it back it in it just kept going up.
I had some special order things I was working on and my customer is anxious to get his pieces.
Anybody out there know how I can fix this problem?

It's a Jen-Ken, I love it...had it for 5yrs. no problems til now.

Thanks!
Elyart

I had a small problem with a chili pepper I bought used, and called JenKen. They were super helpful. I kept calling about 4:30 till someone told me they close earlier than that (I think 4?).

It sounds like your relay is stuck in the closed position in which case you will need to replace it before you can use it again.

JenKen isn't answering. Yeah, they've helped me before. It'd be nice if they were avail on weekend when most of us are around during the day....

Sometimes a little mechanical agitation can unstick a relay. Otherwise, Radio Shack may have a compatible relay.

I replaced the relay and it worked. BUT after 5hrs I got the beeping again. So I stopped it, reset it and started the program, but the temp wouldn't increase this time. It kept trying to heat up but nothing was happening.......you think it might be the element now? How do I figure out that one? Is there a test I can try to see if that's it?
Thanks, All.
