Emilio Santini - Venetian Soft Glass Workshop
Sep 1-3 Wed-Fri 10-5pm
Soft glass figure making the Venetian way and soft glass blowing with a small blow pipe at the torch .
The class will cover the venetian technique of figure making with soft glass starting from the simplest primitive figure and will end with the more elaborate open legged figure. I will show the tricks we use to make objects in soft glass without the use of a kiln and without continuously reheating the glass. We will also cover figure at the mandrel and adding mythological elements to the object.
Blowing with a small blow pipe at the torch will allow you to make small vessel and small hollow bead an make small tubing to save and use later when need it.
Demonstration on making scorpions , bugs and other animals in soft glass will be integral part of the class.
One year experience with soft glass required.

Emilio Santini Goblet Workshop at FlameTree Glass, Inc. in ATL. GA!!!!!

Cups and feet for venetian goblets at the torch. The class will cover the making of a venetian goblet from step one, how to blow a straight bubble, to the final step of opening cup and foot and assembling them together with a venetian stem or with a figure as a stem. Lip wrap application, correct use of Jacks, preparing the proper bubble for the foot and all the other tricks needed for the execution of a venetian goblet will be shown. Emilio will guide you through the making of your own goblet.
One year of blowing glass recommended.
