Inspiration Toolworks has one. I just ordered one but haven't received it yet - can't wait to try it.

I got a couple of different sizes from Arrow Springs. It takes a bit of practice, but my wife likes having custom made cones for her bead crochet work.

Here are a couple of floral cones that I made a few months ago. Haven't made any lately but probably will this weekend.

Wow! those are so cool. If you worked with PMC, could'nt you use the mandril to make nice PMC cones as long as you removed it before putting in the kiln? Just wondering.

I made some PMC cones before I got these mandrels and used the end of a big ball point pen as a form. It worked fine, you just need to be sure that the form is smooth or the PMC might stick. These mandrels have a bit of texture on the surface from the turning process. I don't know how a very thin layer of bead release might work with the PMC, but it might be worth a try.

I never thought of using a ball point pen. What a great idea! Thanks Robert.

Robert

just have to bump this because I just saw these and am in love!!! Been having a discussion with angelique_redhead this morning on Skype, about glass bead caps and cones. These are to die for! Anyone making these type cones these days? Any new pics to share?

Nancy

Robert, hi!!! I hope you do make some soon. Would you be selling any? I'm not torching at the moment because I moved to a condo, so even though I have a cone mandrel I can't use it because of fire regs. Unless I get a HotHead to replace my other torch. Would a cone mandrel heat up well in a HH? I've never had HH experience. Thanks! I really look forward to seeing your new work when you have some pics to share.

I really like the ones too. I have one from arrow springs, the medium size I believe although I might try the smaller one some day. I want to try a mixed media piece with one, just need to find the time. I have some in my sold beads on etsy and I have this one here if you want to check it out.

Sorry for the link, I'm not on my regular computer to resize and upload the image to this site. I'll try to fix that later tonight and edit the post.
