How do I make the background white in Elements?
I have photoshop elements 6 and a MacBook Pro,, both are new to me. How do I get a white background for my beads. Any help will be appreciated!!!!

I go to layers then go to adjustment layer and click on that after that click on levels you will get a pop up that you click ok after that you will get a window that will have little droppers I click on the one with the white end on it then click on the background where it is white and then it will get brighter click Ok and you are done. It works great for me. Hopefully I did not forget a step. LOL This is for elements

... and if you feather your edges, you don't get an abrupt change from shadows to light. I used to have a tutorial... lemme see if it's still around.

... my way was pretty different than the color correction version (as mentioned above). But if you want another alternative to try, just to play with...
You'd click your magic wand on the whiter areas of your image, then go to SELECT and FEATHER and put in 3 pixels, then click CTRL+U and bring the brightness (third of the three bars) toward the right.

Lori - thanks for that tip. I still have a very long way to go on my photography, but have just tried your suggestion and gosh what a difference it makes. I love Photoshop Elements, I just wish I knew how to use it!
