I have a sketch book with a heavy cover so when It's folded open, it will stand up. I keep ideas as jpgs on the computer but if I decide to make something, I print out the jpgs and glue it in the corner of the page. Then I sketch out in pencil the steps I think will need to be done. The pencil can be erased and the idea corrected if something doesn't work. I also print out pictures from purchased tutorials or the free ones I've found of the important steps. I really love tutorials that give a cheat sheet of small pictures at the end for this reason.

I'm never without a notebook. I like to use simple lined paper ones that have ringed spines so they can open all the way. It fits in my purse and I can doodle as ideas come to me - I also keep a few colored pencils in my purse - If I'm somewhere and I can't get to the notebook I'll doodle on anything (I always have an ink pen in my pocket) and then later I'll use a glue stick to attach it in the notebook. Doing this is great - it also gives you reference material when ideas aren't plentiful. You go girl!
