Foot pedal recommendation
I'm looking at getting a foot pedal for my 4-stud Hellcat. Any recommendations for particular models to seek out or avoid? The Carlisle EL2 GasSaver shows up a lot, but it's electric which would be a pain as my studio's circuits are maxed out. I think I'd prefer a mechanically operated pedal if their quality is high enough.

I have used both and prefer the electric. The electric solenoid valves that work the electric foot pedals draw very little power so shouldn't cause you much trouble.
I like the foot pedal Hot Ass Tools makes. Its a good value and well made. The owner is Smutboy here on the forum.

I heard a lot of good things about him and his products. 'If' and 'when' I get my scorpion, I'm going to save up for his foot pedal

Most electric pedals will out last most mechanical pedals. to many moving parts and places that need seals that can leak on most mechanical valves. Electric valves only have on moving part and its sealed inside the valve.
When most mechanical valves go bad they leak or don't close all the way. most electric ones just don't come on if they die.
The electric draw is super low on my pedals. At 120 volts they draw 15 watts,
witch basically works out to being 1/8 amp draw.

I will also recommend Smutboy's foot pedels. I got one with my Mirage and it is great! It makes using a two stage torch so much easier.
His kiln controlers are tops too. I bought one of them from him a couple years ago and it is great.

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to say that I just recently purchased a 2-stage foot pedal from Hot Ass Tools for my Mirage and I love it!

If you like building things there are a number of posts on making your own with electric valves.
