Theresa when you melt frits in, no matter what size, be sure to start way up high above your flame, and maybe smooth it with your paddle, then gradually get closer to the hot part of the flame, you will tend to boil less things that way. Be sure to post what ever you make!

What to do with a lopsided compression
when I get a compression that just won't work for a pendant,
I save it and when I get 2 that I think will work together I
put them in the kiln, heat 'em up and melt them together,
I round each bottom and join them slowly so they are solid
no air trapped. Then I hide the seam with a twisty & this
goes to this
here is another one
a fun way to use things that would otherwize be wasted

The double flower marble is very cool! Great idea. I don't have much frit. I do have a stick of paparazzi though. Maybe I'll try backing one with that. Here is a new one.

Nice Will, really nice. You definitely have the hang of it. Will do you have a stick of some kind of green? If you do, try just covering the back of the pendant with the tiniest dots of the paparazzi you can make, melt those smooth, then do the same over that with the green, don't worry where the dots go, just evenly cover the back with the smallest dots you can, melt that smooth, and then do again with something dark, like jet or turbo cobalt. Makes a really nice backround for florals, especially with light petals like this one you just did. I like sparkle, and that gives the floral an interesting sparkle.

Well Nighthawk, there is a discussion thread on how to make floral designs in the
much forgotten room above the boro room. A well meaning person decided to create this room, but unfortunately most people just don't see it or go there. When I started this thread it was here in the boro room, where it got a lot of views and was a fun thread, now it's mostly dead and that's too bad. Please check it out, there is a lot of good information there. Personally I would like to see the "Free boro Tutorial" room be put back into the boro room where people would actually see the threads. And that is my 5 cents worth, normally it used to be 2 cents but due to inflation the price has gone up.

I would love some feedback. My flowers are looking good though at the end are getting really small or if I compress more then they end up looking smashed. I can't figure out what to change…are my lines to thin? Am I compressing too many times? Any suggestions?

Well Lillip, lets see some pictures, then I may be able to suggest what you could do to improve your designs. Generally though if you compress a floral design and it flattens out too much, it is because the glass above the design is much cooler than the floral design and therefore it pushes it down. For me, timing is everything, keeping the whole design hot, including the part that will be the lens is crucial, and depending on what glass I use it changes with each piece. Please post a picture, I don't know if you are making a marble or a pendant.

Hey I hear ya, I have a heckuvatime with that too, I don't have an iphone, just an old phone, and use a camera and then download from computer to shutterfly and then back to computer to get pictures the right size, it's a big hassel. Wish this was like face book, you just click and it's there. Here there is a size limit and no getting around it.

Mary thanks for all of your input on the flowers- it has been exciting and oh so very helpful.
Here' goes a try with pictures- i apologize ahead for any major mess up.
If it works, what I again am not understanding is how come the flowers shrunk down so much when compressing.

Susan's glass
These flowers are made with some glass a friend gifted to me.
incredibly both these flowers are made with the same 2 glass colors for
the petals. One line of Peach Odd and one line on top of that of Ruby4.
One pendant struck better than the other, but both are lovely.
I am keeping this one.
See those bubbles between the petals? those are caused by a glass
called Fool's Gold, I used a tiny line of it first and then put green on it
thought I would get green leaves with a gold edge, but I got these
amazing bubbles, and you can't see it in the pictures but those
bubbles sparkle like gold nuggets, they are awesome.

Very nice R4. What color did you use for the pink? The only pink I have is Bubble Gum and I think it's almost white. But, then again, I'm colorblind.

New work
I have so busy, seems like never time to take pictures, but I made sure
to photograph these, this is a good batch. Even when I use my trusty
time tested recipes for color, some batches are better than others.
You know that song, Summertime? It's summertime and the
livin' may be easy, but torching is not. It's been hot, hot, hot here.
I get up early and work until my studio is 100 and quit. And I have an
air conditioner in there too.
