"Where do you get...?"
I've been wanting to start this for a while. A thread where people could post threads of where they get oddball items, such as corks, cording, etc.--anything that is NOT normally found at a typical glass website. I know every time I make a post where I get something like that, other LE'ers respond and have all sorts of other cool places they find stuff.
I'm thinking the format would be to make the title of post the thing you are writing about, and the message could be a brief description of the item and what you use it for. Then, if possible add a web link so people could find it.
Wouldn't it be nice to have all these in one place?

Vinyl tubing to line beads
I found this stuff after lots of searching. It's clear vinyl tubing that cuts easily and fits PERFECTLY in bead holes made with 3/32" mandrels. Now I can use headpins without them wobbling all over the place.
It's inexpensive ($4.10 for 25ft--the shipping cost more than the product but I didn't care since I had a hunch it would fit. It does--beautifully) 50 ft. is $7.45, maybe someone will want to do a bulk buy.
Here's the link:
http://www.smallparts.com/products/descriptions/682.cfm It's part #TLT-031A
And here's a link to Barbbbeads idea for another way to accomplish the same thing. Thanks Barb!

beadable forks, winestoppers, corkscrews, fan pulls, etc.
How about a cheap source for little bitty rubber o-rings? I'm looking for ones that fit 3/32 mandrels and 1/16 mandrels. The Home Depot near me doesn't carry them that small.
Thanks for starting this thread!
Just so I'm contributing, here's a source for itty-bitty cocktail forks you could put beads on:
http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/st...ini_fork?Args=
And here's the Penn State Industries Catalog, which has a number of things that can be adapted for bead use, although they want a pretty wide shaft (7mm, mostly):

Mini Corks and Rubber Plugs...
Check here for all the little goodies you're looking for:
http://www.widgetco.com/
It was mentioned earlier, but BOY, OH BOY - what great deals and selection they have on the "little things" - I just bought a load of mini corks and rubber plugs there - great price!!! And free shipping on orders over $10.00; they don't take PayPal though, so be prepared with ye 'olde Credit Card!
DeAnne in CA
SPECIAL NOTE: THIS "Widget Co." (link in my post) is a different company than "Widget Supply" as mentioned in Jen/Scoutycat's post #4 above. Both great places; each has their specialty!!!

I get a LOT of stuff from American Science and Surplus, www.sciplus.com. They have a huge assortment of all kinds of stuff, and it's much cheaper than anywhere else. Also, their catalog is an absolute hoot! They probably have tiny o-rings. They have thousands of items. I love them!

bubble mailers and cotton filled boxes
I found a case of 300 4x8 bubble mailers for 37$ here with free shipping
http://www.shippingsupply.com/store/...ty-300-2p1.htm
And they are made from recycled materials. They ship super fast too
This is where I used to buy my cotton filled boxes before I switched to bamboo

Mailers
I just happened to order bubble mailers yesterday from http://linton.stores.yahoo.net/info.html and they have the 4 X 71/8 self sealing kraft bubble mailers for $27.80 for a case of 250... which makes them only .11 each : ) No shipping either! Shari Barry

Square/Half-Round Copper wire + Great Cabs
I like using Brandywine Jewelry for my "strange shaped" Copper wire.
They are the only people that I can count on to have Square and Half round
Copper wire. Can't find it anywhere else.
I also get consistently fabulous cabochons from them.

Clear Vinyl Tubing and other Plastic Stuff
Here's another link for clear vinyl tubing. I think it's cheaper than the first one I posted. Also, lots of other neat plastic stuff.

(That is if you don't have the patience for using the speaker wire technique.)

Where did you hear this? I thought CG Maille was Phong's site (awesome tutorials). DH practically lives on TRL's forum and hasn't heard a word about any changes. Their site is up and fully functional (except they never seem to have black AA rings when I want them <sigh>)
They do have a nice selection of EDPM (rubber) rings in several colors and a few sizes, but I wouldn't call them tiny. OTOH, they're fantastic for flexible mail bracelets. Love 'em!

I love Fetpak. Pricing is really great. I use them for my bead business and my work as well. They have been more competitive in pricing than other sources.

Does any one have a source for 5mm eyelets (silver ) to use as bead liners. The last batch I purchased were from overseas and with shipping it was almost $100.00. I can't afford that!!! YIKES

Welcome to LE and glad you decided to post! There are many reputable dealers of glass online, these two are my favorites. Fast shipping and very nice people to deal with.

I found alot of neat things in fishing stores....I think they are all closet beaders......
All depends on what your looking for. They have this glue there that is waterproof (of course) and flexes a bit when dry. Dave's Flexament - All Purpose Tying Cement

nope not boxes. I made the decision to go green with my shipping (well as green as I can) and I use bamboo batting to ship my beads in. I only use 100% recycled printing paper (staples has it for about the same price as the regular) and my bubble mailers are made with a combo of recycled materials.
Bamboo is really cool stuff.
It is 100% biodegradable.
It is naturally regenerative, grows without pesticides or fertilizers, and it is one of the fastest growing plants in the world growing 47” in 24 hours. It also thrives naturally on almost every continent, releases 35% more oxygen than other plants, and is 100% sustainable.pretty cool huh?

I found bamboo batting at Joanne fabrics. 15$ for a crib sized piece but it goes a LONG way and since I don't use boxes it saves some money.
