Question Fan outside studio?

Hi-
I received my new fan yesterday, wow, it is certainly louder than the one I had in the glasscraft hood! (which was inadequate, hence the new fan).

My new studio is in a shed in my back yard. I had it insulated and finished on the inside, and I'm just finishing painting this week.

Some people have mentioned mounting their fan outside the studio, in some sort of weather proof housing. Can I possibly see some pictures or get some advice in that area?

thanks!
Ana

Hi Ana, Pam who has a business called "The Blue Between" set up a really nice studio and posted pictures of her studio build. If you will click on this link and scroll down you will see a picture of her blower set up on the outside.

I hope this helps.

The link shows a very well done and comprehensive installation; nice tutorial. I might mention that if your new fan has a suction on both ends; that is if there is a suction opening around the motor then you wil not need the adapter on the other suction opening. just mount the fan in the box with both ends free and unobstructed and the exhaust opening going outside the box. The fan will then suck from the whole box which is also connected to the ducting inside the room.

Hi Lorraine- Thank you! The pictures of her garden are gorgeous! I wanted to post a pic of my studio for you guys, but it's too big to upload and I've forgotten how to fiddle with the size.

Cheng076- Thanks, my fan is an inline fan, so I'll be going straight out. But I think some sort of outer box will be good, both for weather and to dampen the sound.

thanks-
Ana

Inlines are about as quiet as you can get but it could still be mounted outside in a box...or not! With the right size box it could act as a muffler and be really quiet.
