Default Bail Biters

I received my "Glass Line" issue a few days ago and on page 29 in an article by Samma Parcels, 'Vintage Florals', there is a picture of a tool referred to in the text as a bail biter. I have spent an hour scouring the web looking for this tool. Anyone have a clue to who makes it, sells it, or its real name?

Thanks, PJH

Jodie Ruskin (an LE member) makes and sells them.

same function as 'peter tweezers' or 'bail biters'. Puts an indentation in hot glass that you then open up to a hole. Samma referred to them as " bail biter of your choice" but didn't give real product name. I have a penchant for sturdy well made tools such as pictured in the article.

I like my Peter's tweezers, but I got to use Handy Andy's once and they rocked! (Like Peters' tweezers with tungsten in them).

These are simple to make yourself. Purchase from Lowe's or Home Depot a set of needle nose pliers. (Lowe's Item 36870 - $3.49 or 15256 - $7.9

Use your torch to heat up the ends to cherry red and bend to fit your needs. File to points if desired.

I believe the pliers pictured in Glass Line are an optical plier by Orebro International. Item ORB-1507 on this page of their site.

You can find them on Ebay

The ones she uses in the article look to me like modified hemostats.

Hey, peeps. Just got a heads up on this thread.
The bail biters in the pic are actually my first pair I picked up out of bin of "fish eye" pliers. After a search for more, I found out these were defective because they touch. Lucky me...I love them. I don't know if regular fish eyes could be modified or not?
I also use the needle nose pliers with the bent ends and love those as well. Seems the textured edge of the needle nose gives a bit more "bite" to create the hole.
Sorry I couldn't direct you to the ones I have. I sure wish they were available as well.
Thanks so much for checking out the article. I was thrilled to be included.
Be sure to post pics if you try the tute. I'll be glad to help if anyone has questions.
Thanks - Samma ;-D
