Default HELP please ASAP!

Hello.

I have recently set up a Bravo. I have smelled propane ever since, which I had never smelled before. I checked at all the connections with soapy water and no leaks. My room is closed off from the rest of the house, but when I open the door, it will knock you down!

Any answers, please? Thank you.

You have a leak.... Check again....

Check all connections and face of torch, you may have a leaking or not properly sealing valves... You should also turn off propane source and bleed down (burn off) any propane in lines when shutting down...

Thanks for answering so quickly Dale. I hadn't done the face of the torch. I will do that now. I did bleed down the lines when I shut down a few days ago.

Do you think I could possibly have a leak in the hose?

Are you sure you don't have a leak in the hose? If the smell is that pungent, it may be a split in the hose that you are missing.

What is the age of the propane hose and is it "T" type? Propane in the red welding type of hose will degrade over time if not the correct type. Check the hose to see if there are any markings as to hose type. "T" should be indicated. And if an old hose of the wrong type there could be hair line fractures.

You may also desire to move the torch, hose and propane tank to another location (not oxygen) to see if the smell follows. Sometime the smell of propane can linger. Had that some issue when the propane hose was removed and placed into storage. No leak, but it sure did smell.

Thanks guys for helping me troubleshoot. I did spray along the entire hose and no leaks.

The hose is about 2-3 years old. I would have to check my records. It is a T hose.

I have propane I use for heat and stove. I think the best thing to do is maybe to bring a dedicated line into the studio room from the big tank. Does anyone have that and can tell me if it works as well?

And of course, I just bought two new tanks of propane. Oh, and I checked that line coming out of the tank too. No leaks.

Nobody mentioned checking the tank/regulator connection and the regulator. Could be dirt or grit under the tank connection or a broken cracked diaphram in the regulator or the black knob is not tight enough.

since you just set up this torch and this problem just happened
I'm thinking it must be either the connection at the torch or the torch.

Did you check the adjustment knob on the torch?

Yes, I sprayed the entire torch!! However, I think I cured it. We will see what tomorrow brings. I don't smell it now. I went outside and tightened all the nuts on the propane and then everything at the torch. I will see what happens when I light it tomorrow.

Thanks so much to all of you trying to help me. I will holler loud tomorrow if it still stinks!
