Silver Plum Question
I bought some Silver Plum glass (104), but have never been able to get a nice result out of it. Is there an tip or trick you can suggest to me? What other glass does it play well with? Any and all advise will be appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Andi

I always get nice results with silver plum when I work with plenty of O2.
Do not like to be reduced.
Look nice with Cooper green.

I blogged about Dark Silver Plum just a couple of weeks ago. I hope something here helps.

Andi,
it depends if you bought the old handpulled stuff or the new machinepulled.
You won't get nice results with the machinepulled.
And yes like Liz said, plenty of O2 and cooling cycles in between.
Beautiful beads, Liz!

I never adjust my flame for silvered plum. I toast it, as if it were a marshmallow, but mostly from underneath the flame.

I am grateful there's a thread about this color as I received it from Brandy and I had no idea what this color could do!
I will keep it in my little pile of ''special'' glass as I am still on a HH and I am not sure how to make it work with this kind of torch!

Elizabeth and Elke your beads are beautiful, I could only hope to get some results like that. Melanie I will read through your blog thanks for the tips. I have had my silver plum for about a year or even longer do you think it is from the old batch or the new? I don't want to sound ignorant but does plenty of O2 mean lots of oxygen? Does that keep the flame cooler?
Thanks for your help

Yes, this means that you need to work up in the flame, with lots of oxygen.
Thank you for the nice comment on my beads!

Silver plum LOVES a HH! Use it
Someone at some point will chime in about Amber's beads, but it's relatively easy on a HH, I had better luck on mine to be honest than on a surface mix. Therefore I use a slightly reducing flame when cooling/striking, so opposite of others I guess

Wow!! You folks are getting some incredible results from DSP! I never thought to use it for a base glass for anything, either. I'll have to try that.

I'm on a single too (another HH girl here!), and find, if I let the DSP cool a bit, then heat it again in the upper half of the flame, I have no problem bringing out the shiny.
