I've been given a not-too-gentle nudge to explore something wayyy out of my comfort zone. I like geometrics and twisties and organics, not sculptural or painted-looking beads.
In the SCA we have a major award for service: the Pelican. The story goes that a mama pelican will puncture her own breast and feed her babies on her blood for their survival--big sacrifice. This image has been portrayed in various forms: silver, embroidery, ceramics, carved bone--but rarely in glass.
I don't have the first clue on how to do something like this! I love beads like Kerri Fuhr's ravens and Joy Munshower's critters. I'm being somewhat lazy...I just thought of it this evening, and I'm tired and dopey on pain meds (sciatica attack
). I wanted to ask this before I forget.
Thanks!
