Smile Introduction to Lampwork (Glass Bead Making) Sampler Course: Brighton Hove / Sept. 19

A 4-hour Bead Making Sampler Class (Maximum 2 People Per Lesson).

Cost: £50 Per Person.

Try your hand at this ancient craft in a cozy, comfortable and safe environment, with great music to boot! If you have always wanted to work with glass, but weren’t sure where to start, this workshop will give you a taste of what making glass beads in the Venetian tradition, called “lampworking” is all about.

In a nutshell, glass beads are made by winding molten glass onto a steel rod (the mandrel). The bead can then be shaped and decorated in endlessly interesting ways. A sea of glass colors is available for your use.

After attending this introductory class, if you find that you would like to go further into the craft, you can sign up for one of more extensive workshop packages and work one-on-one with our internationally acclaimed instructor, Tim James.

Everything you need to participate in this course is provided, including safety glasses. Each student uses their own table-mounted propane/oxygen torch for the duration of the class. And of course you get to keep the beads you make!
