Default Info on pyrometers please

Hi I have recently gotten myself an old kiln and it is without a pyrometer , i am putting my feelers out in the hope i can find some useful info on this topic and find a pyrometer that would be affordable to me and get my kiln up and running so i may then be able to further my skills, enough blah blah.....

It has come to my attention that i may be able to get a battery operated one from this link, http://www.artcoinc.com/pyrometer.php does anyone know if this pyrometer and would it be alright to use or not.

I would really appreciate some help.

Thank you very much

Cheers Jane

Though it would probably work, I would keep searching. There are many unpowered pyrometers out there...... In theory and practice a pyrometer for glass kilns uses a thermocouple to generate a small electrical signal when heated. When it is connected to a analog meter, the meter displays the voltage as temperature... A mechanical pyrometer may is probably more rugged and less maintenance than the electronic pyrometer....

There are several people that frequent the that make kilns and accessories. They may be able to help you ....

Yes, it would work. In fact, I use one to double check the temperature in my kilns. But, as I say on my web page, you will probably need to get another thermocouple. Contact me if you have any more questions.
