Thanks Amber. I did some experimenting today with other colors so we'll see how those come out.

I have to add that the copper green looks more turquoise in the main beads. I've never seen copper green react like that.

I want to use this method to make rattlesnake appearing beads. What effettre glass spreads well in gold or browns or greens? Think of rattlesnake colors.

You can use multiple colors on the same bead so you have different color scales.

I tried to make some dragon scale beads. One of them turned out ok and one was a flop, but I will try again. the large pressed bead snuck itself into the photo.

So what went wrong with my green dragon scale bead? was it not enough stringer and too much SIS?

Norma, what colors are you using for the dots? How are you making your SIS?

SIS: purchased dark ivory stringer with silver leaf burnished onto it

Colors: both beads have effetre copper green as base
Bead on left I used effetre cherry stringer, bead on right I think I used an effetre trans aqua stringer

Ah yes, transparents won't work for this design. Silvered Ivory will just eat the transparent color, not spread out under it. You have to use an opaque color. I've never seen or used Effetre Cherry - is it opaque or transparent?

Do you have Effetre Purple 254? If so, try that and you'll see the difference.

It's an opaque. I think that is what it was called anyway

So this tutorial is what got me hooked on glass almost a year ago, and I've been trying desperately to find other colors that work with this pattern! I've got the blue and green down pat, but besides EDP, what other colors have people been able to get to work with it? I'm glad I found this thread, there's already some great pointers about not using transparent glasses! I did manage one random color that worked, Tomato Soup, believe it or not! But any others that aren't blue, green, or purple?

I use sage green. It reacts with tons of colors, especially Raku etc.
Turquoise and opal yellow have a love affair
just keep playing, you’ll get some kewl effects

All I can suggest is to experiment. The best results I've had are the steel blue, olive green, purple 254 (EDP) and raku. Happy my tutorial got you hooked!

It's great! I tried making beads on this pattern with silver glass and silver foil. I like the result! Thank you!
