Default uranium glass

Are the uranium glass tubes we buy the same as the uranium glass used in vintage glass wares? I sometimes find cheap broken ones at garage sales and wonder if they would be worth buying and if they will work with boro. Has anyone tried this?

Probably soft glass and not compatable. That being said, buy one and play with it. Bring it up to around 960f (above shock point for both types) grab it with a tool and introduce
it slowly to the fire. Punty up to it and pull a rod. Apply some to a boro rod. Anneal and
see what happens.
