Default how to prevent Applemail from changing .jpgs into .tiffs

A colleague and I have to exchange .jpgs via email. Whenever he copies things into email, they will look like the original .jpgs, but when they arrive at my PC end, they have become .tiffs and are all given the name "pastedgraphic1", "pastedgraphic2" etc.

Can some of you Mac folks enlighten us on how to simply send the images back and forth in their original .jpg file format?

Thanks in advance.

Does he copy images to email or attach them? Attachments should retain their original file type.

HTH,

Apparently it turns out that Applemail converts them somehow into two files - one of them a tiff when they are received by a PC. I found a site that says (I think) that he needs to place them in a folder so he can copy the file icon rather than just copying and pasting directly from the web. Hope this works.

The problem is that he is putting them into the body of the message by copy and pasting. He needs to send them as separate files attached to the email.
