Returning and have a question
I'm returning after seven or so years of not making beads. Back then, there wasn't a great clear option. I used lausha clear because it was the best option. I work in 104COE. Has there been progress over the years I've been a away in the other brands?
Thanks for your opinion.
Stacia

If you need it at a low cost, I use Effetre 006, which has great batches, but sometimes not.
If you are encasing and want it clear and no haze, try Double Helix Zephyr (not reactive) or Aether (can react with silver glass, not sure about others, to give a yellow tinge, so blue might be more green for exampl). If you check the Double Helix Glassworks site and look at the bargain glass, you can get 2nds at a discount, and they are still great.

And Zephyr is my favorite clear. I really like the reaction the Aether has with silver glass, but sometimes I want to keep the blues. Aether will turn them chartreuse. Like Eileen, Super Clear for me is hit or miss. It is cheap though, and if I get a good batch I stock up. I bought some of the recently issued Vetrofond clear, but have yet to try it. (Might be 3 years old now? Frantz sells it.)

I used to use 006 for super clear, not terrible most of the time. I always wash my glass anyway. But lately with all the encased beads I'm making, I find clarity to be so important that I hate taking chances. I have been using Zephyr seconds. Pricey but worth it IMO.

Stacia, welcome !
Like others, zephyr is best for my beads.
Effetre clear just stiffer. I noticed that on encased stringers, that makes them easier to apply. I pickle Effetre clear in vinegar overnight, sometimes twice. Bigger diameter rods usually more clean. Bad rods I use for punty.

Welcome!
I also have switched to Zephyr. It's worth it to me to not have to deal with potential scum. For encased stringers I sometimes use a pale transparent.
