Default Schott Tubing

Anyone know where I can get 1 or 2 lengths of 38 x 2.8 mm Schott tubing? I just want a couple to see if I like it compared to Simax but I'm having trouble finding a dealer who either sells pieces and/or has that size. Lampwork Supply has great pricing on a full case but I really don't want to spend $66 + $37 shipping just to try it out.

And why would you use Schott if Simax does the same and better? i used Schott with gold and silver fuming and found the colours lack punch, compared to siimax. Personally I would not go back to Schot glass.

Thats why i only want 1 or 2 pieces. I want to try it for myself but i dont want to be stuck with 8 lengths if i dislike it.

Some folks have preferences for working characteristics beyond fuming too.

Try Salt City Glass, they're pretty reasonable.

http://saltcityglass.com/

If you're not buying cases they sell in 19.5" lengths so they can be sent USPS.

edit: Sorry, I just looked and it doesn't look like they have 38. If you're just getting it to try though, you can always condense down some and blow it out.

Some places will charge you a lower cut fee to chop the tubing, but you can save a few bucks by getting it cut down so it can ship easier. Shippers are doing dimensional charging now in addition to weight, so smaller packages cost you less.

We normally have that size at Trev's Glass and do sell by the piece but am out of it right now. The 32 2.8 is the only only one we have in stock with 2.8

Default Free Schott Sample

We do sell all of the Schott glass but only sell the most popular sizes in 19.5" cut lengths and that is not one of them. If you just want to try out Schott we'll send you some free random sizes to see if you like it. Shoot me an email with your address. robert@saltcityglass.com

Thank you sunray and robert for the heads up.
@sunray - I knew there was one more glass retailer I was forgetting about.

@Robert - I'll email you sometime tomorrow.

Hey, has anyone done an apples to apples comparison of the various clear brands? I'd love to see photos of the differences. I've only worked with Schott.

Yep. I believe its out there somewherr. Just not sure exactly. I think on the melting pot forum. They did samples using the same silver striking frit with each type of clear but i dont remember if it was solid or tubing.
