Default neutral backgrounds for black stringer drawings

I've been making beads in this style and I'm so pleased with them.

So far I've only worked with black stringer on Ivory, but I know that color scheme isn't for everyone. Can anybody recommend some colors or frits that would make some nice backgrounds that wouldn't detract too much from the drawings?

For example the backgrounds on Kerri Fuhr's and Joy Munshower's sculpted beads. Something that will add some interest or a customers' favorite color, but doesn't distract.

I'm awestruck, love your stringer work!
I wonder how a pale transparent would look, if you etched/tumbled the bead to give it the sea glass look.

Actually I made one in a transparent color with a little bit of white enamel etched. Thank you for reminding me! That will be a great way to get a little color, texture and interest.

I want to love Cirrus, but I don't have good luck with CIM's transparenty colors. I feel like they thermal shock so easily. That might just be me being crazy, but I feel like I can only consistently work with their opaque colors.

Hey, something ate my post!

I've been tossing stringer on just about anything, and it's been interesting! I would look at enamels too, or some of those glasses that blush or change color a little in the flame, like stoneground, phoenix, and...oh whatever that other one is.

I've been eyeing that Antique green from Eff. too, I think that would look lovely with golden or silver stringer and I haven't seen that yet (I think).

Canyon de chelly would be beautiful as a background for stringer work.

And opal yellow

I have a real thing for Pistachio at the moment. Such a pale pretty green.

Any lighter, not too busy (monochromatic-ish, or with complimentary not loud bits) frit melted into any color gravity swirled a bit to soften the effect would be neat. It would give it a almost Monet backdrop
