Default Help - implosion stud earrings

Remember those cool implosion stud earrings... well, i went to put them on cards for my craft show and noticed a good number of them have hairline cracks! I felt pretty confident I gave them plenty of insurance heat... but dang! Could it be the 96 COE frit not liking the 104 super clear? My studs with 104 frit are fine btw. I'm so upset. I was gonna knock out some more, but now I'm not sure I should. Is there a clear best compatible with frit?

Yes. I would agree. Incompatibility cracks. Have you tried 104 frit?

Not sure if a different 104 clear would matter. Such a shame in any case.
Plan B might be to get yourself some clear 96 rods for your frit blends.
Come to the dark side, Trish. We have cookies and compatible frit.

I have read that different COE frits can be used, if they're something like 5% of the total make-up of the bead. So maybe the frit would be okay, except it looks like your studs are more like 50% frit.

Sorry about the cracking--they are so pretty and I would be mad as hell to find cracks later on.

That's on the surface of the bead - if you've got the 96 coe below the surface, all bets are off. I quit mixing 104 and 96 at all years ago, because I had too many pieces break, not right after or even a month after they were made, but a year or more later.

What pretty ear studs. I'm so sorry this happened to you.... hard lesson to deal with. But you've certainly taught me what not to do and for that I thank you!
