key w/bead...
i came across a few antique keys and i would love to make a bead on them...
can anyone help me with making a bead on an antique key?...i can imagine how to make it but what do you use to hold the key while creating the bead?...i'm not very good at holding my clamp while turning the key...
help...thanks...

re about holdin key
I would say make a mini lath by gettin a drill and put your punty in the chuck or twezers and then tape the trigger to your speed settin. Lol never tried anything like this so in theory sounds good but be carful.

I use a curved hemostat. You can lock the handle.

Me too. Then I drop it off the hemostat and put it in the kiln with the long tweezers. Lots of people here say to punty up to the key with a clear rod instead so you have better control.

I put the key on the end of a release-coated mandrel and used the mandrel as a punty. Obviously won't work if the key doesn't have a hollow end.

I think someone used a rod of glass for a punty also. They melted the end of the glass and just stuck on the end of the key. I think it's in the thread mentioned above.
