Default Is Kyanite compatible with soft glass?

I've found a tempting offer where I can get some small Kyanite pieces where it mentions it can be encased in Boro.

But what would happen if I used Soft glass instead?

I rent a minor torch that does not allow use of Boro, so I want to see if anyone can offer some incite for what would happen if I used Soft Glass.

No Idea what you pay to rent but you could buy your own for $100 and then try anything you want.

Generally if a material is compatible with one glass, it is not compatible with the other.

It's highly unlikely that it will work with soft glass. I'd be surprised it if really worked with boro as it tends to decompose above 1100 degrees C. The glass may not be that hot but the flame is so it's likely to break down. If it's cheap give it a try but I wouldn't invest a lot in it.

Kyanite is a blue silicate typically found in aluminum rich metamorphic pegmatites or sedimentary rocks. At temperatures above 1100 degrees C (just over 2000 degrees F) it decomposes into vitreous silica which also causes it to expand. The boro might be able to handle the expansion but the soft glass is not likely to survive it.

You can work with boro on a minor, btw.

Yes, boro on a Minor burner does work. Not really fast, but it does work.
