Default I hope I didn't jump the gun on this oxycon...

I've been dreaming of the day when I can end the love-hate relationship I have with my HotHead, but my finances haven't allowed more than dreaming. But today, I made a move.

I got a used oxycon off craigslist for $200. It's an Airsep NewLife Elite. The hour meter shows 364 hours of usage (but I'm not sure how reliable this info is.) Anyway, I plan on purchasing a Cricket in the next month or so.

So, will this machine be good for running a Cricket? Did I get a good deal? I've been telling my hubby that I did, but he makes me doubt sometimes.

Congrats on the deal on Craigslist. This is what I plan to do in the spring as well.

If that is a 5 lpm machine and I think it is based on googling, and it works correctly, which you won't know until you hook it up, then yeah, you got a good deal. If you look at the serial number, it should tell you the manufacture date.

Hi Jenny,Time will tell if you got a good deal or not. When you buy a used unit ,you never know.Ive bought many used units in the $150.00-$200.00 range.with a lot more hours on them than yours has. Some have lasted 4 or more years before needing attention. Some only 2 or 3 years. Keep your prefilter clean.Dont know about how the Cricket will run, come on Cricket owners. You wont miss the hothead .Just gotta learn the new torch.

A 5lpm concentrator in good running condition will make the Cricket sing.

Use a 5 LPM unit with the Cricket and Lisi is correct. Depending on the unit keep the flow lower than maximum to up the oxygen content. On my unit 3.5 to 4 seems to work well.

You might want to run it occasionally (for several hours at a time) if it's going to be a while until you get your Cricket.

Oxycon's don't really like to sit idle.

Jenny - way more enthusiasm than skill beats the heck out of having the skill but no enthusiasm! Good luck with your new setup.
