I believe you can get these or something very similar at Sally's Beauty Suppy Stores. I just checked and you can get them at Sally's however they're more expensive.

I got mine from Sally's and that was a couple of years back. I don't have it working yet as the power in the back just isn't what it is suppose to be. So now when we get into the shed it will work just fine.

I have had one of these for about 2 years. It was wonderful when I torched on the cold porch.

I've been using one of these for several years now. They cost a little bit more off the rack at the beauty supply store, but it's great for instant gratification.

Wow Becky ~ thank you for posting this. I have been using a candle in a glass cylinder with a rack on top. It has worked ok but this looks really cool.
Have a great day,
Rae

If you get one be sure you get one of the small ones. The large ones have curved tops so you can't put petals and other things on the top to keep warm.

This is how I set mine up. You can put small stuff on top, but sitting it on the screen inside tends to work better. The screen keeps the softer glasses like white from sticking to the ceramic liner. I used a piece of screen gutter guard to line the bottom. I later added a grid taken from a grill to the support in the front so I can support very short rods, down to about 3 inches, and keep the tips hot.

I copied kate Fowle Melaney...almost exactly. It was about $22.00 from Wally World.
No waiting, no shipping. You can easily warm murrini slices, small pieces of twisties and goldstone bits etc.

I've been using a food warmer from the seventies. It gets up to 500 degrees.

I use an electric skillet. It's nice and deep. I put jars inside (baby food jars for the shorts and jam jars for the 12" rods) the skillet and fill the jars 3/4 with sand. The sand keeps the rods from falling out, but also holds and distributes the heat really evenly. I love the fact that I can just turn the whole thing on and go prepare my ipod/water/etc. and by the time I'm ready, I have warm rods in every color at my disposal! I just do a quick wipe with a paper towel before introducing into the flame- Just in case there's any dust from the sand. So far no problems! I really wanted one of those hot iron warmers, but it looks like it could be a little unstable. Oh, and I've never cracked a jar from the heat of the skillet! (knock on wood)

So the hot end is toward you? Is your workspace always that neat? Guess I will clean mine up today- it's a mess compared to yours!

This is a great tip. There are lots of stuck glass on the inside of my warmer from the rods I return to it while they are still too hot! Plus I cut my finger really badly when I tried to 'brush the bits of glass out', DUH! where was my brain that day!

I use a bit of fiber blanket to keep the glass off the ceramic base. I think I will try the screen idea. Does glass ever stick to the screen?

I use it closed. It has those nice grooves in it so the rods don't roll around.

This one would make a nice little mini kiln for someone who is just starting out that can't afford a kiln. It holds heat up to 1000F. All you'd need is a little fibre blanket for a door and you'd be set. AND, it's only $60
