Default Best gauge for earwires?

What's the best gauge for making earwires for earrings?

This is mostly just personal preference, but I prefer a 22 gauge wire. It has a little more strength to it, but it isn't uncomfortable large. Actually, I'm lazy...I buy premade 22 gauge earwires from Fire Mountain.

I was thinking 22 but just wanted to be sure before I buy the wire! LOL! I want to try to make some different shaped other than the standard ones out there.

It seems to me that Connie Fox prefers 21 gauge half hard, but I usually use 22 gauge myself.

I use 21 full hard and make all my own ear wires. Not heavy but I do find 22 too light.

I also use 20g! When I used 22 I had a difficult time finding backs that would fit snug and more customers lost their earrings.

People seem to buy 22g more than anything else, but I prefer 20g myself.

I like 21g. It's stronger than 22, but easier to work with than 20. Kind of a nice Happy Medium.

20 gauge half hard. I try to do something interesting design-wise with the wire to incorporate into the overall earring design. 20 guage is substantial enough to make an impact but still comfortable enough to be worn.
