I'm just getting my glass studio together. I bought some vinyl fencing at Lowe's, again out in the garden center. I only bought 2, 8' lengths and had my DH cut them to 12" sections. It looks like it will do very nicely. Of course, I only have 1 or 2 sticks of most of the colors, but hey, if it's like my collection of porcelain, I should have enough to fill the space in no time!

I really enjoy seeing how everyone solves the storage question. If it wasn't for you guys/gals willing to post, I'd still be searching for my own answer!

Thx so much for sharing!

i went to a local glass replacement store. they carry the plastic sheets. i had them cut several pieces to fit into the downspouts diagonally to add extra storage and to separate similar glass. i have read that you can get the same plexiglass at home depot or lowes, but i have not seen it there. i gave the glass store the measurements (or just bring them your fence rail or downspout itself) i needed and they cut as many pieces as i wanted. you can get different thickness of it which affects the cost. you do not need it to be very thick to work effectively. i really like it and it does its job....kath

Polka Dottie,
I don't know you but I am now soooooo envious of your workspace! Those bigger cubicles for glass storage are a great idea!

dear fairyverre,

thank you for your compliment on the studio. i worked in a tiny corner in our entry hall for years before we moved and i was able to have a room of my own to work. i live in this space all day long.

as for the rolling table, i bought one of those tall metal rolling storage racks that you see in discount stores like costco or sam's club. it comes with the rollers that can be locked or not. i cut it down with a pipe cutter to suit the height i wanted for a work table and then had the top made out of formica. it has recesses in the top underside of the table surface so it just fits down over the pipe legs tightly. i think you can have home depot make one for you or you can use any surface you want on one of those metal shelves. i love that i can move it all around the studio, wherever i happen to need to work at the moment....kath

Thank you for the information. A great idea when there is so much glass to store. Of course it would help if I didn't keep buying it! LOL
