Default For those making hand dyed silk ribbons... TIP!

I finally have my own tip to offer!

Last night I made 6 test ribbons with the stuff I got from Dharma. I wanted to iron them- and this idea popped into my head. My flat iron! For my hair...

It worked perfectly. Very portable and easy to manage. Easier than laying the ribbon down to iron because you can feed it with one hand into the straightener and with the other hand hold the straightener. The iron has heat settings- so start low and work up so you don't scorch the ribbon.

A cheap flat iron is maybe 15-20 bucks. I have a new professional one my sis bought for me (she's a hairdresser) so I'm going to scrub the old one nice and clean and use that for ribbons

As I am the Queen of a Lack of Common Sense- I was very pleased with myself when this idea popped into my head.

Last night I was mad scientist. I played with Kool-aid to dye my ribbons. I used the generic Kool-aid. The lemon-lime turned out fab. The strawberry, tropical punch and cherry all have the same red/salmon look- but I mixed it with purple with red and got the most amazing chocolate brown.

I have a question- I hope someone reads this- is the biased cut ribbon heavier than the regular silk ribbon?

Thanks

heck, I'm thinking that's a great tip even if you're just ironing a bunch of purchased ribbons!
