Crazy cracking problem with DH gaia and taxco
I ran into a problem yesterday. I had a hades base bead, and grabbed a lightly stormed Gaia stringer, dotted, topped with lightly stormed Taxco then clear. Wasn't crazy about what I got, mostly because I hated the dot placement, so I melted it all in and encased - all using effetre super clear. When I took it out of the kiln this morning, there was a "c" shaped crack around every area where I dotted gaia and taxco. Hmmm - just 4 glasses, hades, gaia, taxco, effetre super clear, and doing a search turned up no known compatibility issues. No cracking near the mandrel, just circular cracks in the clear over the DH dots. The bead went into the kiln while it still had a bit of a glow, was garaged at 950 for a couple hours, then annealed at 980 (annealed high yesterday because of of some cirrus in the kiln) for an hour, down to 800 at 300DPH, sat for another half hour, then turned off, kiln at 100 when I opened it this morning. Other than a couple of spacers where I got a little too crazy with how many I was putting on the mandrel, everything else was fine. Has anyone else had trouble with any of these?
