Default 104 UV (Blacklight) Glass

Did you know that Czech 8013-2 Uranium Yellow (COE ~104) is Black Light sensitive??

I suspected it was ... but here is the proof.

I'd guess 104 based upon the thread subject.

Yes Vickie ... sorry I should have specified in the subject line that 104 was the COE not just put 104.

It also has actual uranium oxide in the glass to give it that remarkable color and uv reaction. Same goes for uranium green.

Exactly which is why I suspected all along that it would be reactive to UV light ... just needed to get my hands on a black light to test my theory.

J-Me from Wild Things beads loves telling the story of when they visited a Czech glassmaker. They went into his cellar that was filled with uranium glass. They pulled out their blacklight, and the whole place lit up. The man was stunned: his family had been working with this glass for generations, but never saw the stuff under blacklight!

Love UV colors. Someday I may make a chart of them.

I have some uranium, in a few coe's, but this particular one I thought was a weird coe like other uranium glass, I could've used it with friends this whole time and not alone?

I agree. And there are some pastel opaques I need to add.

One day soon I'm going to run the blacklight over all the glass ... just to see who all may light up!!
