Default Jen Ken AF3P 11/4.5 Kiln

I think I have made my decision on which kiln to get. I am leaning strongly toward a Jen Ken AF3P 11/4.5 Kiln with bead door. I was wondering if anyone has this kiln for annealing and if they are satisfied. I wanted the ability to fire PMC and this and the AIM 94BD came recommended to me. Your input would be appreciated.

I have this kiln and am pleased with it. My only teensy issue is that the bead door is not very wide and there may be capacity issues if one makes lots of beads in one cycle. I usually don't make very many beads in a sitting, so it's not a biggie for me. I do wish it was big enough to slump a wine bottle in, but the size is great for beads, which is what I bought it for. I'm sure it would be fine for fusing and PMC too (and one of these days, I'll give those things a try). I like that it's brick, and it's not oversized. I think mine has the Orton controller, and it's simple to program.

I've heard good things about the AIM kilns too, so I think you'll be fine with either one.

Jen Ken AF3P 11/4.5 Kiln...... I was so pleased with my first one I now have 2of these kilns.
One is dedicated to fusing and the other lampworking.

The bead door is rather narrow, so you may want to look at the model with the extra wide bead door...

the only thing I have had to do is replace the relay on my older one (after 3 years of very frequent use)

Is the extra wide bead door an option? or are there kilns that come with it?

What's the approx cost range for these kilns? ($600.00+ or less than $550.50 )

Love mine. Got it from Two Lasses Ebay store and I believe they are about $495 last look. I make alot in a sitting and I stick a new bead in to one side and rotate the last one to the opposite side of the door. I wind up with stuff stacked. Occasionally I might get a sticky frit bead if I don't wait long enough before rotating.
