Default My candle keeps going out!

I was noodling around on google looking for uses for wine bottles, I have acess to a lot of them.
this is
What I'm going for,
http://bios.weddingbee.com/pics/1010...le_Holders.png

Right now I'm using small votive in the cut down bottle on a piece of scrap wood. But the candle keeps going out, I noticed several on google with real candles and what appear to be a solid base.
First time around the candle died fairly quick, second attempt I cut several v grooves in the base to know effect.

So what do I need to change to keep things burning?

Maybe the drilled a hole/cut a hole in the back to let in air.

Are you sure they aren't the new battery ones that look like a real candle?

More oxygen.... Get glass drill and put some holes around base.... OR try using something as simple spacers to raise up bottle some, so flame can draw fresh air (oxygen) from below and it will cause convection to and allow carbon monoxide (created by flame) to flow up chimney.. Flame is living thing, it has to have oxygen (or in terms of glass work -> Ventilation) ...

I figured it out I had a batch of bad candles, it seams the wick it self was just home made and required a lot more air...
I'm a little surprised someone was makeing parafin candles with home made wick.

Glad to hear it was the candles. I was puzzled because my mom used to make a lot of these about 10 years ago and we never had a problem with the candle going out. The hole in the top of the wine bottle was always enough.
