Lampwork Breakage
I have some gorgeous lampwork leaves I incorporated into this necklace. Lots of work, so I don't want to tear it apart. However, one of the leaves broke. Is there any way to repair the leaf? Thank you.

Lovely! You can't take the leaf off without having to remove the other work to that point?
The only thing I can think to try is glue.
Even if you could repair the leaf in the torch, the rest of the necklace would have to go in the kiln to anneal, as well as to heat the leaf prior to fixing, but maybe someone else has some magic in their arsenal of tricks

Could you make a new leaf but instead of the eyelet fully closed , maybe leave a space just big enough to slip a row of the smaller beads threw the eyelet and then seal it off with a dab of glue so the beads cannot come back out and unhook.. That way you could make the leaf and put it in the kiln, then take it out and slip it on and after glue it closed.. Just a thought... sorry thinking out loud here

They've made huge strides in UV glue over the last twenty years. You can buy a kit for about $10 at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Used to be over $700 for the glue and the special UV light to cure it.

Big thanks! I will check it out tomorrow.
UV glue? Would I need special equipment?
I do not make lampwork. I'm a big lampwork fan, leave it to the artists, buy lampwork and incorporate it.

You artists are wonderful. Big thanks.
I am not a lampwork artist. I buy your creations and incorporate them.
I truly would love to fix this leaf. The person who bought it absolutely loves it, and so do I.

Lynn, the kits available now require no special equipment. Everything you need is right in the kit, including the UV light.

Water glass? I'm looking it up, and it says it's soluble in water. Is this something lampworkers use?
Thanks.

Thanks so very much. I tried my UV welder and it repaired the leaf perfectly! Now I know the magic of this stuff. Maybe it will even close jump rings.
I am very grateful.

Would you mind showing us the repair? I couldn't even see the broken part in the first pic, but I am curious about what the UV gluing looks like!
