Default 23k Gold Leaf

I just purchased a book of 23k gold leaf to us in beads. I can't seem to get the gold leaf off the white tissue paper. Has anyone else encountered this problem??

Christine, gold leaf comes in books - patent or loose. You want the loose, it has red powdery(?) tissue and the gold releases easily. The patent is lightly adhered to the white tissue. You should be able to exchange it for the loose type.

Thanks Meg - I see now that I got the patent gold leaf. Is it better to use gold foil as opposed to the gold leaf foil?

Try cutting it into strips and just rolling your bead onto it. The paper should burn up and leave you with pretty leaf. Just remember to be well well ventilated!

Christine, I notice you do fusing and wondered if you could use the gold leaf there? Burnish it on to glass before fusing maybe?

I have some of this sticky gold leaf.

I put the sheet on some damp paper towel and then just roll the bead over it paper and all.

The damp paper towel stops the paper from catching alight and burning up. I lost a sheet or two that way before I started doing this,.

It works just fine in a bead. any paper that comes with the leaf just burns away.
