Default Leftover silver tubing flecks

I wonder if anyone uses the little flecks of silver tubing after cleaning a piece of coring to roll their beads in. You know the flecks that come off when you use a twisty tool to clean the ends before coring beads. It just hit me today when I was cleaning out my silver tubing supply box that all of those flecks could be scraped together. Anyone ever done this or am I just a little late to make this discovery?

thanks,
jamie

I've never done it but from what I understand, sterling silver doesn't look nice at all. If you had some fine silver shavings, yes, that would work.

I've used fine silver filings and rolled my bead in it. It's a cool effect, especially on top of silver glass or something that has a reaction with silver.

I get my rods from Indian Jewelers Supply Co. and don't think they are fine silver, just sterling. Where do I find fine silver tubing SuzyQ? thanks so much for your responses.

Rio Grand has .999 fine sliver tube. Used some 1/8 inch to core beads and have very poor luck with the smaller size. About a 50% redo rate.

With larger SS tube for 5 mm Pandora style (IJS) just about a 100% good rate. Seems the 1/8 is a bit too small and splits. The good part is that .999 can be used to fume where SS can not.

Yes, copper with boro does look nice. This bead is rolled in copper filings and encased. Filings are made with a number six copper electrical wire and a file.
