Simax Triangle Rod
Having trouble finding Simax Triangle rods. I don't want to order a whole case, just need a few rods. Anybody besides ABR have any?

D&L Art Glass Supply has Simax clear triangle in 6, 8 and 11 mm. Check and see if they will sell by the pound in short lengths.

What do you use them for? I'm curious.

Torchgirl, I'm making icicle ornaments with them. Swipe some color down the "spines" and then twist. Have always made them with just 10mm round rod but Chrisann Webb suggested I give the triangle rods a try.
Thanks everyone! Glasscraft is out of the 11mm. Going to call around and see if the other places carry them.

Thank you Angela. I've seen people use flat rods. Need to give it a try.

I like the flats too; quick and easy (and easier to find )

Flat Rod is wonderful for making filigree. Just lay stripes down, fold it over, smash, heat, and twist. Makes really consistent, tight lines since you don't have to smoosh it out like you do when using round. They have great rectangle shaped rod also.

I've been doing these kind of icicles for a couple of years (thanks to Shawn Turner's awesome tutorial) and using the round rod was easy enough (although some of these are a bit wonky!). Found the triangle rod at M&D Designs so looking forward to playing with it for some of this year's ornaments.

Another really neat trick for icicles is to use the small diameter Iris or Daisy tubing from Simax. You can just heat and twist, and close off the tube into solid. It makes really neat icicles with a lot of depth.

Sentences that start with "you can just..." always mean trouble for me! Wish I wasn't so tubing-impaired!

That's like a college math text book saying "...and the proof is left up to the student to perform..."
